All pendants have a flat sterling silver flat backing for comfortable wearing. Head silversmith is Daniel Tapija, Jr. (Yavapai/Hopi/Apache/Hualapai). He began his apprenticeship 1984. Dan now takes modest pride in his beautiful, precision hand stamping and soldering, which have earned him the title of master silversmith.
Small size is 3/4" diameter with small bail.
Medium size is 1" in diameter with larger bail.
Large size is 1 1/2" in diameter with large bail.
Turtle is based on a design painted freehand on the inside of a bowl, some 1000 years ago, with brushes made from the leaves of yucca plants. The bowl is now in the University of Arkansas Museum in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It measures 12 inches in diameter and was painted in black on white, a style archaeologists call Classic Black-on-White.
