North Carolina's Outer Banks is famous for fantastic lighthouses. We visited four. Here is Bodie Island, Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Cape Hatteras.We had a great time, mid January and 5 days of summer, around 70 every day. Cape Hatteras is the one they moved 1999, at the slow pace of 1/2" a day.
Vines and lots of ivy. Nature is very different out here, this will be all green in a few months. Old Poinsett Bridge from 1820 in South Carolina I just fell in love with.
We got our first snow, it came right at Christmas.
Michael came out for the holidays, we saw lots beautiful places. Lake Lure in the background (where they filmed Dirty Dancing and Last of the Mohegans).
Jim took him out fishing too, little on the chilly side.
OLD TOWN CHARLSTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, A VERY OLD TOWN JUST FULL OF COLONIAL HOMES AND OLD BUILDINGS AND THE MOSSY TREES.
VERY CLEAN AND JUST GORGEOUS. WE JUST WALKED THE STREES, COULDN'T STOP. ONE HOUSE KEPT GETTING NICER THAN THE OTHER.

WE CAME INTO THIS HOTEL BY THE RIVER LATE AT NIGHT. WALKED BEAR AROUND BEFORE WE WENT TO BED. GOOD THING THIS GUY WASN'T THERE THEN.

WATER FALLS EVERY WHERE, WE HAVE WATER IN THE RIVERS AND CREEKS HERE (EVEN THOUGH WE ARE IN A DROUGHT)
HOW GREAT WAS THIS WALK, CALLED HIGH FALLS, DU PONT FOREST, ABOUT 30 MIN FROM OUR HOUSE
ON TOP OF THE FALL WE WALKED OVER THE COVERED BRIDGE LOOKING OUT OVER THE FALLS AND THERE CAME THREE HORSES CROSSING WHEN WE DID.
